Cooling capacity and use
This compressor-based air conditioner is suited to spaces such as a small room in an apartment or an office. Treat the 15 m² figure as a guide: results also depend on ceiling height, sunlight, insulation and other heat sources. In a larger or open-plan space, the unit may not reach the desired temperature.
The 2.6 kW cooling capacity is not the same as electrical input power, so it cannot be used directly to calculate electricity consumption.
Modes and settings
The Xmund offers three main modes and a night-time setting:
- Cooling lets you set a target temperature from 16 to 30 °C.
- Fan circulates air at either of two speeds.
- Dehumidification helps reduce humidity in the room.
- Sleep is intended for night-time operation.
The timer can be set from 1 to 24 hours, for example to switch the unit off automatically. Controls are available on the unit’s panel and via a remote control.
Noise, condensate and installation
The stated noise level in Sleep mode is 53 dB. Whether that is acceptable in a bedroom depends on the user’s sensitivity and the conditions in the room; the figure alone does not guarantee undisturbed sleep.
Condensate can be managed using the self-evaporating system or manual drainage. Follow the instructions and arrange to drain accumulated water when necessary.
Unlike a wall-mounted air conditioner, the portable unit does not require permanent installation. When cooling, however, it must vent warm air outside the room. Plan for a suitable position near a window or another outlet and follow the instructions. Also follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and maintenance.
Dimensions and moving the unit
The unit measures 340 × 300 × 694 mm and weighs 18.5 kg. Four swivel castors make it easier to move across the floor between rooms, but its weight matters when carrying it up or down stairs. After moving it, you will need to arrange warm-air venting again before cooling.
The stated power supply is AC 220 V / 50 Hz. Before connecting the unit, check the rating label and manufacturer’s instructions against your local electricity supply.
Summary
The Xmund 9000 BTU combines cooling for a smaller room with fan and dehumidification modes. Its practical features include a timer, remote control and castors. When considering it, take account of the room’s conditions, audible operation, and the arrangements needed to vent warm air and drain condensate.
