BAOFENG Alervites AT1 is a 4G PoC radio with OLA Radio, 66 groups and a 2200 mAh battery
The BAOFENG Alervites AT1 is not a traditional radio in the conventional sense. It is a PoC – Push-to-Talk over Cellular device that transmits voice over a mobile data network, much like an internet service.
BAOFENG Alervites AT1 is not a traditional radio in the conventional sense. It is a PoC – Push-to-Talk over Cellular device that transmits voice over a mobile data network, much like an internet service.
As a result, its range is not limited to a few kilometres around another radio. Two AT1 units can communicate even from distant locations, provided they have access to a supported 4G/LTE network and the OLA Radio service.
PoC instead of conventional radio transmission
With a traditional radio, voice is transmitted directly by radio signal between devices or through a repeater.
The AT1 works differently. When the PTT button is pressed, voice is transmitted via mobile data and a server service to the other group members.
This has one key advantage: users can be hundreds of kilometres apart.
However, it also has a disadvantage: communication does not work without mobile data coverage. PoC is therefore not a replacement for a traditional radio in places with no mobile network at all.
4G LTE and regional versions
The AT1 is available in versions for different LTE bands.
The European version supports a combination of FDD and TDD bands intended for European mobile networks.
It is therefore important to choose the correct regional version when buying.
OLA Radio app
Management is handled through OLA Radio for Android and iOS.
The app lets you:
- add devices,
- create groups,
- invite additional members,
- manage communications,
- make group and private calls.
The device is paired using its IMEI identifier.
Up to 66 groups
The AT1 supports up to 66 groups and, according to the available technical specifications, each group can contain up to 1000 members.
This is a very different way of using the device compared with a regular pair of PMR radios.
PoC makes the most sense for companies or teams that need to communicate across multiple cities or work sites.
Group, private and temporary calls
The available modes are:
- Group Call,
- Private Call,
- Temporary Call.
Users therefore do not have to transmit to every member of the network. They can create a specific work group or temporary communication channel with selected colleagues only.
2200 mAh battery
The radio uses a 2200 mAh Li-ion battery.
It charges via USB-C 5 V / 1 A.
Actual battery life depends on the amount of PTT communication, mobile signal quality and time spent in standby mode.
Weighs approximately 120 grams
The AT1 weighs around 120 g, making it considerably lighter than a large professional handheld radio.
The body features a dedicated PTT button, a rotary group selector, a display, an SOS/member button and a standard belt clip.
1.7-inch display
European technical materials list a 1.7″ display.
The screen can be used to check network status, the selected group and basic device information.
The SIM card is an important part of the system
Some European packages are sold with a pre-installed SIM card and data plan. Other variants or distribution channels may have different terms.
When buying, it is therefore more important to check the following than the price alone:
- which SIM card is used,
- how long the data service is activated for,
- which countries it works in,
- how much it costs to continue the service after the prepaid period ends.
Without a data service, the main advantage of a PoC device is lost.

Where does PoC make the most sense?
This type of device can be very practical for:
transport and logistics – drivers can communicate in one group even across distant cities,
security services – simple PTT communication without dialling a phone number,
event organisers – multiple teams can have separate groups,
construction companies and service teams – workers at different sites can stay on the same communication network.
Is the BAOFENG AT1 worth it?
The AT1 is most interesting when users understand the difference between PoC and a traditional radio.
Its “unlimited range” does not mean a physically unlimited radio range. It is the result of communication taking place over a mobile network.
If you work in areas with good LTE coverage, it is a very convenient solution. If you need connectivity in the mountains, in forests or beyond mobile infrastructure, traditional radio equipment may be more reliable.
