The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a privacy display feature in 2026 that makes screen content harder to see from the side. It can be useful when working with personal or work information around other people.
How the privacy display works
The feature adjusts the display so that the image appears darker and has less contrast when viewed from an angle. Someone looking at the phone straight on should see the content more clearly than a person sitting beside them. This makes it harder for others to glance at the screen from the side.
When viewing sensitive information in public or during a meeting, the feature can reduce the risk of someone nearby seeing it. It does not provide complete protection, however: visibility also depends on the viewing angle and ambient light. Someone who can see the screen from the front or over the user’s shoulder may still be able to read it.
Practical limitations
The narrower viewing angle can be a drawback when showing content to several people at once. Users may also need to hold the phone more directly in front of them to keep the image easy to read.
The privacy display helps limit views from the side, but it is no substitute for taking care when handling sensitive information.
